ADULT: Wingspan - 30 - 40mm. The forewing colour ranges from purplish-orange brown through to ochre. The pattern is somewhat marbled in appearance with the two main diagnostic features being the dark central spot in the orbicualr stigma and the pale hindwings that have a broad dark terminal band. CHRYSALIS: N/A. LARVA: Found in imported fruit especially tomatoes. Also on garden Geraniums. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light and Ivy flowers. HABITAT: Mainly coastal but can turn up in land. FLIGHT PERIOD: Recorded mostly between July and October. STATUS: Rare immigrant. |
